At the end of 2012, 35.3million people were living with HIV. That same year, some 2.3 million people became newly infected, and 1.7 million died of AIDS, including 230 000 children. Close to 10 million people in low- and middle-income countries were receiving antiretroviral therapy at the end of 2012. More than two-thirds of new HIV infections are in sub-Saharan Africa.
Despite population growth, the number of deaths in children under five worldwide declined from 12.6 million in 1990 to 6.6 million in 2012, which translates into about 17,000 fewer children dying each day.
Since 2000, measles vaccines have averted over 14 million deaths.
Despite determined global progress in reducing child deaths, an increasing proportion of child deaths are in sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia. Four out of every five deaths of children under age five occur in these regions.
Our mission is to empower women and children in the developing world in any shape and form there is, through the distribution of independently researched and other educational data, as well as through an association and collaboration with other similarly directed private and governmental organizations. The journey starts by firstly empowering women locally by encouraging them to find their true passion in what they wish to see for themselves and others. That desired project is then supported and taken globally in a true inward and outward approach. Our projects therefore range from A to Z, however they always touch upon one of the fundamental MGDs and sustainable local and global communities. Our desire is to bring a sense of empowerment through education to every woman and child on the planet, in a way that is measurable by ways of them realizing a tangible goal they set out to accomplish for themselves and their community.
